Charitable Donations

We are pleased to be able to support local charities and give donations to hundreds of worthy causes every year, and we always try our best to take every opportunity to contribute to the wider community. This is why we have created our new charitable donations campaign, #CamObsSupports. This campaign will see us give away one complimentary pass (for 2 adults and 2 children) to a worthy cause every day of the year!

If you are interested in receiving a charitable donation as a prize for an upcoming raffle, then please email us at info@camera-obscura.co.uk and attach a formal request on your organisation’s headed letter, or provide a letter of support/authorisation issued by the charity for which you are fundraising; this should state the nature of your fundraising and the planned date of your event. Make sure you include the best address to post the pass to as well.

We will aim to get in touch within 2 weeks. However, if you do not hear from us within this time, on this occasion you have been unsuccessful.

Green Tourism Bronze Award
Edinburgh’s Camera Obscura

Green Tourism Bronze Award

Camera Obscura and World of Illusions has recently joined Green Tourism, the largest and most established sustainable certification programme in the world. We’re very proud to have received a Bronze grading, meaning that we have good green practices in place and have shown commitment to improving. There’s still plenty to do!

A Green Tourism Award means that a business works responsibly, ethically and sustainably, contributes to their community, is reducing their impact on the environment and aims to be accessible and inclusive to all visitors and staff.  We have been working hard towards these goals, and hope to earn our Silver Certification soon.

Kids in Museums

Kids in Museums

Didn’t make it to Teeny Tiny Toddlerfest this year! Don’t worry, it will be back next year.  However, here’s a reminder of our commitment to Kids of all ages and yes, sometimes that means adults!

A few years ago we signed up to the Kids in Museums Manifesto.

Here is the latest version.

Let us know if you think there is more we could do to be even more family friendly!
