Yes! We have a storage area where you can leave bulky items like luggage or shopping bags. Although we’ll take good care of your luggage, we can’t accept liability for any loss, theft or damage to it. Ask when you buy your tickets.

This is your chance to see the Camera Obscura in action. Your guide will show you the whole city from our rooftop tower and entertain you with tales from Edinburgh’s fascinating past.
The show in the Camera Obscura lasts around 15 minutes, the rest of your time will be spent enjoying the rooftop views and World of Illusions. We recommend you give yourself at least two hours in total.

Our wonderful 17th-century building is listed by Historic Environment Scotland so for the timebeing, we are a stairs-only attraction. We hope to find a way to make it more accessible in future. Please contact us if you have any questions about access – we’ll do everything we can to help.
We can only sell tickets in person, on the day. This means we can monitor the number of visitors, and guarantee that everyone gets the very best experience.
Show times are allocated on the day of arrival, when you buy your tickets at reception. Please be aware that shows only run when there is enough daylight, and have limited capacity so if you are visiting in winter or at a peak time of year please come along before midday to guarantee entry into the show.
If you miss the show today – don’t worry, we can give you free entry the following morning so that you can pop back and catch it.
We don’t have an on-site café, but you can grab a snack in our gift shop any time. Your ticket also gets you money off at several nearby cafes and restaurants. Your Camera Obscura ticket is valid all day, so get your hand stamped when you leave and come back whenever you’re ready.

First thing in the morning – no question. It’s the best way to start your day in Edinburgh, taking in the incredible city views from our rooftop tower. This is also when we’re quietest, so you’ll get more time and space to explore.
Our Camera Obscura show is one of over 100 interactive exhibits in the building, and is included in the admission price, separate tickets are not available. Your entry ticket is valid all-day, allowing you to come and go as much you like throughout the day.
Yes of course! We pride ourselves on being a dog-friendly attraction and can provide water bowls you can take around with you to maintain your pup's comfort and wellbeing.
As family groups consist of many variations, we don't currently offer a family ticket, to allow inclusivity to all our visitors. Tickets are individually priced and allow all day access to the attraction, so you can make the most of your time in Edinburgh.
We have a 10% discount available for visitors with a British Military ID. Just present the card at the front desk on arrival and you will receive a discount on your ticket, this is only valid for the cardholder, and anyone accompanying would need to pay full price.
