Fun things to do with the kids in Edinburgh this October break!
The weather is just starting to get a little cooler, the nights are drawing in and it officially feels like Autumn! With the October holidays just around the corner, we thought it would be fun to do a quick round-up of some fantastic child-friendly places to visit across the city.
Britain’s most fun attraction and an incredible child-friendly activity! With 5 floors and over 100 exhibits of mind-bending illusions, kids will adore the entertaining and interactive approach as well as all the different sights and sounds of our attraction. A swirling light vortex; a maze of mirrors; a chance to swap noses with a friend; see yourself grow, shrink, and stretch; play eye-spy with our city viewcams; and mess with your mind with brilliant visual effects! Camera Obscura & World of Illusions is open late every day with extended opening hours during school holidays.
Located in over 82 acres of wooded hillside, Edinburgh Zoo is home to over 2,500 incredible and endangered animals and makes a great day out for the entire family. This October, celebrate all things Halloween with Edinburgh Zoo Spooktacular, a brand-new magical illuminated trail! Meet lots of different characters as you make your way through this mile-long trail. The family friendly event will take place in the evenings and must be booked in advance online.
Boosting various exhibits and activities especially for children, the National Museum of Scotland is an excellent child-friendly day out in the city. Check out their website to see what’s on and take a look at their Family Puzzle trail.

Tucked away in the heart of Edinburgh and home to many much-loved animals, Love Gorgie Farm is a great day out for the kids and the farm offers hands-on learning opportunities to all visitors. The site will be offering a Mini Farmers experience between 18th-24th October for the school holidays.
