Sensory Sunday Sessions

We welcome you to join us for Sensory Sunday, a sensory adapted morning open to any visitors who prefer a calmer environment to explore.

Next Sensory Sunday: Sunday 7 September 2025 9.00am – 11.00am

Camera Obscura & World of Illusions is a hands-on, interactive experience, which appeals to all ages and is a safe space for play and discovery.

Sensory adjustments will be made to provide a more comfortable visit for neurodivergent individuals, those with autism spectrum conditions or sensory processing differences, alongside any visitors who would enjoy a more relaxed experience.

Sensory adjustments:

  • Visitor numbers will be reduced for the first hour of opening
  • Music will be turned off throughout the building
  • The Camera Obscura show will be adapted (less people, less dark, shorter and quieter presentation)
  • Wearing gloves in the Mirror Maze is optional
  • Hand dryers in our toilets will be turned off and paper towels provided

Booking:

  • We encourage you to book online in advance, availability of walk-up tickets cannot be guaranteed
  • Booking in the first two time slots at 9am or 9.15am allows the most time with reduced visitor numbers and sensory adjustments
  • An average visit takes around 1 hour 45 minutes
  • From 11am the sensory adjustments will be removed, but you are welcome to stay
  • Your ticket is valid all day, you will get a hand stamp on arrival so you can leave and return later on if you wish
