We’re currently working hard behind-the-scenes getting everything ready for when we can welcome visitors back to experience our many interactive hands-on exhibits, Victorian Camera Obscura and stunning Rooftop Terrace. There may also be a few new surprises for those who’ve visited before and for the first time you’ll be able to book your tickets online!

Please be assured, that when we are allowed to re-open, we’ll have proper social distancing in place, plenty of hand sanitisation stations and our team will be fully trained and aware on all the best health and safety practises.

We can’t wait to invite you, your friends and family into the attraction to have some of the most fun, hilarious and memorable times any one could hope for.
With re-opening ahead we’ve pulled together an itinerary for you while in Edinburgh. Just a few suggestions for when the city is back open for business.

Here is our itinerary for The Best weekend in Edinburgh.

Staying Over

We’re only a short walk from the Radisson Blu on the Royal Mile. This hotel offers a range of stylish rooms and family suites and is conveniently located close to Waverley Train Station as well as many restaurants and attractions.

If you’re looking for something more unique and adult only why not consider The Witchery by the Castle? So close to our attraction you can look in our windows, this hotel offers exclusivity and indulgence to all who stay.

On more of a budget? Then Code Pod Hostels – The Court  offers you the chance to sleep in a former courthouse and jail. The Victorian A-listed building is located right at the heart of the Royal Mile and will offer you a stay you’ll never forget!

Things To Do

Edinburgh isn’t short of things to do, and we’ve so many favourites! Obviously first on your list is a visit to the world famous, and Britain’s most fun attraction, Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, but what next?

No visit to Edinburgh would be complete with out a trip to Edinburgh Castle, and luckily for you it is our next-door neighbour! See the Scottish Crown Jewels, Mons Meg and National War Memorial.

Take in a dram at the Scotch Whisky Experience where they have a range of tours available including becoming a ‘one-hour-whisky-expert’, a chance to see the collection of over 3,000 bottles of whisky and a tasting. Tours include family friendly options for those not old enough to sample the real thing!

And the fun doesn’t stop at night. Edinburgh is famous for it’s dark and underground history, book into one of the many ghost tours to discover they cities wicked past. Take a look at Mercat Tours and City of the Dead or the world famous Mary King’s Close

Eating and Drinking

All that activity has made us hungry! There are restaurants, cafes and pubs in abundance in the city with everything from family friendly, to themed, to authentically Scottish. Rather than list them all here why not head over to our Discount Partners page. Here you can find all the best deals and offers you’ll get when you show your Camera Obscura admission ticket. How great is that?
