Rooftop Views and a Sweet Summer Treat

What’s better than rooftop views, a sweet treat and a sunny day in Edinburgh? Although, admittedly, we can’t always guarantee the sunshine!

This summer, Camera Obscura & World of Illusions has launched a brand-new rooftop refreshments bar, serving cold drinks, snacks and ice cream. After exploring our five floors of mind-bending illusions and making your way up all six flights of stairs, it’s the perfect place to pause, cool down and take in some of the best views in Edinburgh.

One of the highlights of the new bar is our 3D-sculpted ice cream, created by COOLAB, an Edinburgh-based start-up inspired by local heritage, landmarks, and cultural icons. From edible flowers to adorable Highland cows, each sweet treat is a bite-sized celebration of Scotland!

Our brilliant maintenance team, who hand-craft and look after many of our exhibits in-house, also had the fun task of building and painting the new rooftop bar. Naturally, they finished it in our signature Camera Obscura pink!
