Carers Rights Day

At Camera Obscura & World of Illusions we recognise that caring for someone, often quietly and behind the scenes, is one of the most important contributions to our community. That’s why we are proud to partner with Forever Edinburgh in supporting Carers Rights Day on Thursday 20 November 2025.

 

Carers Rights Day is a national campaign in the UK, organised by Carers UK, which draws awareness to the millions of unpaid carers across the country and supports them in understanding their rights. The theme for 2025 is “Know your rights, use your rights.” Whether someone’s caring full-time, part-time, or only stepping into a caring role for the first time, Carers Rights Day is a moment to appreciate the value of carers and the support they are entitled to.

 

To honour this day, on 20 November 2025 only, we’re delighted to offer free entry to all carers living with an EH postcode, no client required. Here’s how it works:

• Walk-up admission only: you can simply arrive at Camera Obscura & World of Illusions on the day. 

• Please bring proof of your carer status and your EH postcode at the desk so that we can confirm eligibility.

 

Our aim is to make this easy, welcoming and fun, because you deserve a day of wonder, laughter and escape.

 

For many carers, the demands of looking after someone else mean that personal time, respite, or simply visiting a place “just for fun” can be hard to come by. On Carers Rights Day, we want to turn things around. Our five‐floors of illusions, interactive exhibits and stunning views over Edinburgh provide the perfect backdrop for you to take a step back from caring responsibilities for a little while.

 

Here’s what’s on offer when you visit:

• Explore our quirky optical illusions and interactive floors. 

• Take in breathtaking panoramic views of Edinburgh and beyond - ideal for some quiet time and reflection!

• Bring a friend or come solo, the offer is for the carer alone (no client required).

• Simply show proof of carer status + EH postcode.

 

To every carer with an EH postcode: we want you to know how much we appreciate your role. Your many hours of dedication, patience, love and resilience matter. On 20 November we’re honoured to host you and encourage you to stroll in, unwind a little, explore something unexpected, and simply enjoy.
